FAQs
Can I have composite bonding if my teeth aren’t straight?
Dr Nayan will always advise to get the teeth in the correct position first. He wants the best for your teeth and smile long term so aligning the teeth first before composite bonding will give a better long-lasting result. It will also mean the composite material will be of uniform thickness on all the teeth that are treated which gives a more symmetrical smile.
Do you have a dental plan?
Yes, there are dental maintenance plans which you can join at both the clinics Dr Nayan works at. These plans are paid for monthly and include your annual check-ups and hygienist visits which ensure your dental health is maintained for the future.
Do you work weekends?
Dr Nayan works Monday to Friday but can work on some Saturday mornings to try and accommodate you if necessary.
Does composite bonding hurt? Will I need injections?
A lot of cosmetic dentistry can be done with no injections at all. This includes Invisalign, teeth whitening and composite bonding. Sometimes Nayan will offer to place some local anaesthetic to make the procedure more comfortable. He will usually say something along the lines of ‘you’re the boss, not me. If you feel any discomfort, just let me know.’
How long will my treatment last?
Like anything, your treatment will require maintenance. Dr Nayan usually advises 2 dental check-ups and 2-4 visits to the hygienist every year to maintain your dental work.
Depending on what treatment you have had, longevity will vary. For example, composite bonding tends to last 5-7 years but porcelain work can last double this time. Naturally, Nayan likes his work to last as long as possible and occasionally may advise against certain things, e.g. biting pen lids, nails, opening bottles with your teeth!
How long will my treatment take?
After discussing your options at your initial consultation with Dr Nayan, he will be able to give you a rough treatment time. If you are having Invisalign treatment, the time can increase as most cases will take 6-9 months to straighten the teeth first. If you need composite bonding alone, this can be completed in a few visits.
I have pain from my tooth, does it need to be removed?
If you have pain from your tooth, there are usually two options for treatment; root canal or tooth extraction. Dr Nayan has a special interest in root canal treatments so you will be in good hands if you decide on this option. If you would prefer to have the tooth removed, Nayan will also be able to do this for you.
If you would like to have the missing tooth removed in the future with a removable denture, dental bridge or dental implant, Dr Nayan will be able to discuss this with you and carry out the necessary treatment if required.
I know I have problems but am interested in cosmetic dentistry. Is this ok?
Dr Nayan always priorities his patient’s dental health. The journey to achieving your dream smile may involve stabilising your dental health first. This means that any routine and general dentistry that is required, should be completed BEFORE any cosmetic treatment is carried out.
Fortunately, Nayan offers both general and cosmetic dentistry so any routine work like fillings, root canals, extractions etc will be discussed and completed as part of the process.
What are the costs involved and do you offer any finance options?
As Dr Nayan works in a few different clinics, the costs vary depending on location. After booking in for your initial consultation, Nayan will discuss your bespoke treatment plan and costs depending on what is needed.
All clinics offer finance options which can be discussed with the reception team after your initial consultation.
What happens on my first visit?
This is the first stage to achieving your new dream smile!
During your first appointment, you will get the time to meet Dr Nayan and discuss any dental or cosmetic problems you may have.
Nayan will complete a full dental health assessment which may include taking x rays and photographs of your teeth. This will give him as much information as possible so he can create a bespoke treatment plan for you to achieve a long-lasting healthy smile.
What is the difference between composite bonding and porcelain veneers?
Social media can be very confusing when it comes to these terms so lets try and clear this up for you.
A veneer is the type of dental treatment. Dr Nayan will tend to compare it to having a false nail. The veneer covers the front surface of the tooth which can help to improve the shape, shade and symmetry of your smile.
Composite and porcelain are both dental materials. Composite is the same material that is used when you have a white filling on a back tooth. Porcelain is a material made in the lab by a dental technician which is a lot stronger, has better stain resistance and can give better aesthetic results than composite. Composite is a purely additive procedure which means we do not have to drill any of your healthy tooth away whereas porcelain will require some (minimal) tooth preparation.
